If you’re looking for ethically-sourced, sustainable food then you’ve come to the right place. Shoal caters for vegetarians and vegans, and of course pescatarians, with options that even meat-eaters may enjoy. Vegetarian Menu - highlights Breaded and fried Buffalo Halloumi Our crisp, tasty halloumi comes from the organically-reared herds of Asian water buffalo at Laverstoke Park Farm here in Hampshire. The buffalo graze freely on organic pasture, full of 31 different herbs, grasses and clovers to produce protein-rich and nutritious milk. We add rice flour, our vegan batter and panko bread crumbs, then fry this amazing halloumi in vegetable oil in a designated vegan fryer until it is super-crispy. Homemade Vegetarian Leek, Cheese & Potato Pie Made with Laverstoke Park Farm’s vegetarian Buffalo Milk Cheddar (using vegetarian rennet culture) and delicious fresh leeks and potatoes, wrapped in a creamy sauce. We will always offer a vegetarian pie option as we know how deliciously satisfying a pie can be when you don’t want fish. Our pies are all handmade in our kitchen, with freshly-made all butter rough puff pastry to give a light but flavourful crust. Vegan Fish & Chips Menu - Highlights Banana Blossom Our lightly-battered Banana Blossom makes a perfect fish substitute. Sourced from fair trade suppliers in Asia, the blossom is a tear-shaped purplish flower which grows at the end of the banana cluster and is traditionally used in Indian and South-East Asian cooking. These edible flowers have a layered, tender texture said to mimic the flakiness of fish. We lightly coat our banana blossom in vegan batter then sizzle it in our vegan fryer for a crisp and tasty bite. Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurant and Takeaway in Winchester Shoal makes it easy to share a meal with friends and family, whatever their food choices. You can dine in or click and collect your vegetarian or vegan food. We promise to keep vegan and vegetarian food wrapped and served separately so that you can be sure you are eating exactly what you ordered. We look forward to sharing our vegan and vegetarian dishes with you, do pop in soon to try Shoal’s delicious and ethical food.
